About the project

Telling children the truth about AI

A girl and an adult at a kitchen table in the evening, talking over a tablet lying between them.

Why this exists

Most children meet AI before anyone explains it to them.

81%of 9 to 12 year olds already use or interact with AI.

44%of children say no parent has ever talked to them about using it safely.

Source: Common Sense Media, The Common Sense Census: AI Use by Tweens and Teens (2026). US survey of 1,204 children aged 9 to 17.

That isn't because parents don't care. It's hard to explain something you're still working out yourself, and it's moving faster than any of us.

Made to Seek is here to help with that conversation.

What we believe

A child can be told the truth about a powerful technology — what it does, what it can't do, where it fails, and what it costs — and come away steadier rather than frightened.

So we don't simplify things until they stop being true, and we don't frighten anyone into caution. We explain how it actually works, introduce real people worth admiring, and hold on to wisdom older than any of it.

The book

A children's introduction to AI for readers aged 9 to 12, written to be read by a curious child and the adult beside them.

It covers what AI is, how it learns, what it can't do, where it goes wrong, and the bigger question underneath all of it — what we should do with it.

The book is still being written. Chapter one is free to read now, as an interactive preview.

Faith

Made to Seek is written from a Christian perspective. Its name comes from Proverbs 25:2:

"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings."

Proverbs 25:2

Its three themes — power, love, and a sound mind — come from 2 Timothy 1:7.

You don't need to share that faith to use the book. How AI works is the same for everyone. But the questions underneath it — what makes a person different from a machine, what we owe each other, what wisdom is — are answered honestly, from where we stand.
